FARIDABAD: With release of large quantity of water from Hathini Kund Barrage, Faridabad administration has sounded a flood alert. The water is expected to reach Faridabad by noon on June 18.
An official said Balraj Singh, deputy commissioner, has issued instructions to all officers to ensure that essential services are not affected.
He said that as a result of increase in level of water in Yamuna, there was a threat of floods in the villages of Faridabad sub division.
The official added that the residents of these villages have been warned not to go near Yamuna. Those living in slums near the river have been asked to shift to safer areas.
